Hong Kong - After announcing 14 Jan that it was raising polyisocyanate prices in Europe the Middle East and Africa, Bayer MaterialScience said 15 Jan that it is also raising prices for some of these materials in the Asia/Pacific (APAC) region.
The price rises, of $0.60/kg, cover aliphatic derivates of hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI) called Desmodur N and Desmodur Blocked, and take effect 1 Feb 2008.
BMS said the increase is a result of rising costs for raw materials and energy as well as increasing costs of production assets.
All current contractual obligations in the region will be honoured, BMS added.
