Leverkusen, Germany -- Bayer MaterialScience AG said Wednesday 5 May that it is raising its prices for aliphatic isocyanates in the Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA) region by between 6 and 8 percent, with immediate effect.

This price increase affects the monomeric diisocyanates HDI (hexamethylene diisocyanate), IPDI (isophorone diisocyanate) and H12MDI (dicyclohexyl methane diisocyanate, Desmodur W) and their derivatives, the HDI and IPDI polyisocyanates from the Desmodur N, Desmodur BL, Desmodur Z and Bayhydur product families.

According to the supplier, increases in raw materials and energy costs "have led to a distinct decline in the margins for this group of products.

"To ensure continued reliability of supply and an efficient service for its customers, and to further develop the product range to meet future requirements, Bayer MaterialScience is compelled to pass on a proportion of the rising costs in the form of price increases," the company statement added.

BMS noted that current contracts will be fulfilled.
