Leverkusen, Germany -- Bayer MaterialScience will show innovative biomaterials for medical devices under the new brand name Baymedix on Stand 2348, Hall 8 of the Medtec trade show in Stuttgart, Germany, from 23-25 March 2010.
The company will be showcasing coatings products including lubricious types, drug-eluting ones, and hydrophilic coatings, characterised by very high mechanical strength and particular haemocompatibility.
BMS said the range encompasses foams for wound dressings and topical tissue adhesives currently being developed as an alternative to stitching for wound closure.
At the core of the Baymedix family of products is Bayer MaterialScience's long experience in thermoplastic polyurethanes and polycarbonates, and BMS said the unified branding "underscores its commitment to providing solutions to the medical device industry."
Now the group has decided to establish an in-house development and application centre as well as dedicated production lines.
"We want to build a strong brand identity around all our various materials activities in the medical device market," said Chris Koppenborg, a medical products expert at BMS.
