Chicago, Illinois -- Increasing government regulations on high air and water quality are spurring demand for filtration materials and replacement parts in the healthcare, automotive, trucking and pool/spa markets, according to Bayer MaterialScience.
Following the integration of a business expert in polyurethane systems for filtration -- BayOne Urethane Systems llc (BayOne) -- Bayer claims to have strengthened its technical leadership in the filtration market by expanding its reach and exploiting its global materials supply chain to benefit customers.
"The integration of our market expertise into Bayer's family of polyurethane systems is helping our customers tap into the leading filtration materials and technology wherever in the world they do business," said Bob Becherer, NAFTA market segment head for filters, Bayer MaterialScience llc, in a company statement.
Polyurethanes can be formulated for flexible or rigid applications and are customisable to meet end-use needs. Compared with traditional materials, PU systems are lighter, with faster production, low volatile organic compounds and low odour. The material's room temperature cure also helps cut energy usage since the heating ovens used to cure other traditional materials are not needed.
