Leverkusen, Germany – Covestro is launching Bayhydur quix 306-70 as a 2K wood coating hardener which it claims dries 'just as fast as solvent-based systems'.
The product will formally debut at the European Coatings Show in Nuremberg, Germany.

Not only does it dry quickly, it generates less than 100g VOC/litre, the company said.
It also possible to formulate systems with 7 hour pot-life. The finished coatings are chemically resistant.
The hardener can produce coatings that resist coffee, red wine, mustard, ethanol and water. High-gloss finishes are also possible with the hybrid hardener, which features aromatic and an aliphatic diisocyanates in its structure.
Moreover, Covestro said the Baydur coatings yellow as quickly as conventional solvent-based systems exposed to heat and UV light.
Eva Tejada, is wood lacquer expert in Covestro's coatings, adhesives and specialties business. She said sanding is possible at around 35 minutes after application. The coatings stop being sticky four hours after they are applied, she added.
