Hamburg, Germany – Biesterfeld is to expand its distribution agreement for BASF’s Elastollan TPUs to several more countries in northern Europe. It will now also sell the materials in Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and the Baltic states, giving it distribution rights for the whole of the EMEA region with the exception of the UK and Ireland.
Elastollan TPUs can be extruded to form products such as tubing, cable sheaths, belts, films and profiles. They can also be blow-moulded and injection-moulded. Applications include mobility, wire and cable, construction, industry, household appliances, sports equipment, textiles and footwear.
The materials have good wear, abrasion and tear resistance, and tensile strength. With good resistance to oils, oxygen and ozone, high flexibility when cold, and good cushioning properties. The portfolio includes both polyester and polyether based materials, and also light-resistant aliphatic and transparent grades, with hardness ranging from Shore 45A to 83D. The range also includes TPU-based additives and masterbatches, plus glass fibre-reinforced and flame-resistant grades.
“For decades, the versatility of the Elastollan product family has been helping our customers to turn innovative ideas into reality and to develop high-performance applications,” said Martin Rathke, Biesterfeld’s global business director for engineered polymers. “We are proud of the confidence BASF has shown in us, and our teams in the relevant countries are excited to be able to offer these materials to our customers.”
