Rotterdam, the Netherlands - Speciality chemicals distributor IMC Group has signed an agreement with BioAmber Inc. to distribute BioAmber's biobased succinic acid in Europe, targeting customers in the resins and coatings market.
Minneapolis, Minnesota-headquartered BioAmber is a sustainable chemicals company that uses industrial biotechnology and chemical catalysis to convert renewable feedstock into chemicals, including succinic acid, which is used in resins and coatings including those made from polyurethane.
IMCD of Rotterdam, the Netherlands, said it has a strong commitment to sustainability the reduction of CO2 emissions, one of the top corporate priorities.
"We are delighted to partner with BioAmber for this leading and exciting new generation product," said Miche`le Bouchard, Business Group Industrial Synthesis Director at IMCD Group in a 12 June news release. "Bio-SATM further strengthens IMCD's offering in the renewable resources based chemistry for production of more sustainable polymers."
