Ashtabula, Ohio – Chromaflo Technologies has added a new black colorant to its range for use in polyurethane products.
The company claims the novelty in the new black, Chromaflo DL-020017, is that it contains 40% high structure carbon black. It is thixotropy and viscosity fall as shear increases. This allows the product to flow readily, and it can be pumped and metered. There is no need for agitation.
A jet black colour is possible at lower loadings than earlier grades. In addition, it is cost effective to use because less product is needed to achieve a deep black, Chromaflo said.
‘Our goal in the creation of this new colorant was to fill the need for a high color strength, low viscosity black in the polyurethane market,’ said Lisa Collette, technical service representative for urethanes at Chromaflo. ‘Tested for color strength in an array of polyurethane systems, this new colorant has the 40% high structure carbon black and low, stable viscosity that users are looking for.’
