Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- Bayer MaterialScience has developed the BAYonet: a rapid mixhead mount system for manual mixhead insertion during reaction injection moulding (RIM), the company said in a 3 March statement.
According to BMS, the system helps to solve common RIM problems. These can include the ability to quickly attach and detach mixheads in rotary table systems and to centre a mixhead to a mould securely to avoid leaks, the statement said.
"Currently, there are not many options out there for a quick disconnect of a mixhead to a mould," commented Michael Palmosina, senior technical service specialist of the RIM & Composites Group at BMS, in a company statement. "Its a simple design that moulders will be able to adapt to their existing equipment and processes," Palmosina added. (RD)
