Bomlitz, Germany-Bayer MaterialScience group has invested an unspecified amount in additional production facilities at its two units which make films using thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). These are Epurex Films GmbH & Co. KG in Bomlitz, Germany and Deerfield Urethane Inc. in Whately, Massachusetts, in the US.
New manufacturing facilities add advanced technologies and production capabilities to both companies, said a BMS statement. "These new production technologies offer a broader range of film and sheet constructions to the market, eg integrating functional layers into TPU film, providing a variety of surface structures and carriers and more,", agreed Jim Chrise and Achim Wittig, general managers at the sites.
"Focusing on customers requirements, we saw the need to invest into multilayer, blown film and cast-on-carrier extrusion capabilities. Our goal is to bring value to our customers and be poised for future developments".
Both units are "leading companies in their respective regions and together offer global capabilities," BMS added.
Addition of these novel production capabilities will allow the two film makers to offer new products to support customer growth both in established and innovative applications.
Both Deerfield Urethane and Epurex Films make high-performance, made-to-order polyurethane and speciality elastomer film and sheet grades used in diverse industry sectors.
BMS said the two companies "offer a unique combination of developmental resources, film manufacturing technologies, production capabilities and capacity, material science savvy and customer orientation."
The two organisation's advantages in development and production capabilities are reinforced by joint exploration of new formulations and technologies, the statement added. "
