Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania -- Bayer MaterialScience liquid urethane polymers can improve the performance of epoxy resins, the company said 23 Feb.
Desmocap urethane polymer from BMS can "improve and/or expand the flexibility, elongation, impact resistance, tear resistance, cure rate and adhesion of epoxy resins," the statement said. Applications for epoxies using liquid urethane polymers, BMS said, include caulks, coatings, membranes and sealants and can be used to encapsulate electrical parts.
"We've seen an increased interest in the marketplace for epoxy flexibilisers," said Jay Johnston, a senior technical specialist at BMS, who noted that urethane polymers can also be reacted with an amine to create two-component PU flexible sealants. (RD)"
