Atlanta, Georgia – A polyurethane skin on a concept car’s bodywork has earned BMW a place in an Atlanta museum’s line-up of the most futuristic cars ever made.
The GINA - Geometry and functions In ‘N’ Adaptions - Light Visionary Model has a body of fabric over the metal to lets its drivers shape it to their will.
When BMW designed the vehicle, the company hailed it a “challenge existing principles and conventional processes."
The BMW GINA was built on Z8 chassis and a 4.4-liter V8 and six-speed automatic transmission. BMW claims the fabric – a polyurethane-coated Lycra – is resistant to water.
The exhibition at the High Museum of Art will run until 7 September.
