Changshu, China - Adhesives specialist Bostik has inaugurated its new state-of-the-art adhesives and sealants manufacturing plant in Changshu, China.
The 70 000 sq.m plant, which started up in late 2012, manufactures a range of products, including hot-melt adhesives, polyurethane and sealants, for the disposable hygiene, packaging, transport and textile markets. The eventual capacity is estimated at 80 tonnes/year.
"This is a very positive addition to an already strong portfolio of assets for Total (Bostik's parent company) in China, especially in speciality chemicals," commented Patrick Pouyanné, president, refining & chemicals, Total, at the 10 April ceremony.
He noted that Bostik has been present in China for 15 years, where it employs more than 500 people. The plant in Changshu is the company's third in China, and will be its largest manufacturing plant in the world.
As part of its global growth strategy, Bostik opened the Asia technical centre in 2011 in Shanghai - one of three R&D technical centres based on three continents: Asia, Europe and the US.
