Muelheim, Germany -- Leading chemicals distributor Brenntag has bought the chemical distribution assets of Inquimex SACI in Argentina, which is a leading distributor of polyurethanes and industrial chemicals in the country. The company serves a variety of industries and is an major distributor for Dow Chemical Co. in Argentina.
Brenntag Argentina started business in 1997 and the company claims it has since "developed a solid position in the distribution of specialties for the oil & gas, personal care and chemical processing markets."

Together with Inquimex we broaden our existing product portfolio, our services and our know-how in the polyurethanes, personal care, paints and coatings market," said Peter Staartjes, president Brenntag Latin America Inc
Brenntag has been looking to expand its presence in the major Latin American markets, and "Argentina is considered an important cornerstone of this strategy for growth," Staartjes continued. Brenntag had global sales in 2007 of Euro 6700 million ($9100 million) and has more than 300 locations employing over 11 000 people in 64 countries.
