Muelheim, Germany - Brenntag, a major chemical distribution company, has reported strong financial results for 2008, including an increase in external sales of 10 percent, compared to 2007, to Euro 7400 million ($9900 million), the company said recently.
In 2008 the company made ten acquisitions, including Inquimex S.A.C.I., Argentina, a leading company in the distribution of polyurethanes and industrial chemicals in Argentina, as well as Rhodia's chemical distribution operations in Australia, India, Taiwan and the ASEAN (Association of South-East Asian Nations) countries of Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam, Brenntag said.
The company estimates a capital expenditure of Euro 80 million for 2008.
"We are finding many opportunities to help our partners get through the current rough patch in the economy at the same time mitigating volume weakness in our own business," said Stephen Clark, Brenntag's ceo. (RD)
