Barcelona, Spain - Brooks Sports Inc, a major performance footwear company, has chosen Pearlthane ECO TPU from Merquinsa, the Spain-based thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) producer, for its new running shoe line.
Pearthane ECO is a bio-based TPU made using renewable resources. According to Merquinsa its TPUs have a bio-content from 20 percent up to 90 percent with similar properties to petrochemical-based TPUs, therefore reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Derek Campbell, future concepts manager at Brooks said his company is also looking to incorporate the TPU into future footwear designs. (RD)
