BUFCA said, 'Spray applied or injected polyurethane foam will provide far better insulation than the equivalent thickness of most insulating materials.'
It added that by applying spray foam between the rafters of roofs, thermal performance can rise 'to today's stringent standards'.
BUFCA said that homes which are well-insulated retain heat for longer. This makes it possible for householders 'to turn down the heating sooner'.
NEA said its Awareness Day will 'highlight the problems faced by those struggling to keep warm in their homes'.
