Toronto - Film extrusion equipment manufacturer Alpha Marathon Technologies Group Inc. is adding a second production shift at its Woodbridge, Ontario, plant to meet growth in orders.
Alpha Marathon president Robert Kazimowicz said his firm's expansion in the past few months included hiring three engineers. Orders have picked up in North America, Asia and Europe, he said in an interview at Plast-Ex 2007, held 1-3 May in Toronto.
Kazimowicz bought a controlling interest in Alpha Marathon in July. He has helped to beef up marketing efforts and said he is leading a hunt for acquisitions in extrusion machinery.
"My role is to develop people," Kazimowicz said. "We need to be crystal clear in strategies and core values."
Kazimowicz is new to the extrusion industry, but has broad experience in Canadian industry and financing. Alpha Marathon's former majority owner, Domenico Marzano, continues with the company as a vice president holding a minority stake.
Alpha Marathon's recent shipments included a special winder for sticky polyvinyl butyral film, a complete thermoplastic polyurethane film line that went to China and a specialised winder for extruded foam in Mexico. On the books is another foam winder destined for a customer in the UK."
