California, US – Additive manufacturing specialist Carbon has introduced a new material for dental applications. The product was designed to allow orthodontic labs and aligner manufacturers to create clearer thermoformed aligners.
Lucentra also includes software and a new cassette for the Carbon L1 3D printer. The new material, UMA 20, was specifically designed for producing hollow models, the company said, and it has an extended shelf life compared to the materials previously used to make aligners.
The package made its debut at the recent IDS show in Cologne. Also on show there for the first time was a new parts retrieval basket for its AO Backpack. This allows labs to retrieve printed parts without disrupting ongoing prints.
“Our push for innovation in this space is built on listening to dental labs and truly understanding the challenges they face every day – whether it’s the pressure to optimise efficiency or their commitment to better serve their patients and improve outcomes,” said Terri Capriolo, Carbon’s SVP for oral health. “By driving automation with our AO Suite, we empower labs to focus their time and expertise on the highest-value tasks that elevate their operations and deliver the greatest impact on patient care.”
