Redwood City, California – Several of Carbon’s 3D PU printing resins have been certified as biocompatible and can be used in a range of medical and wearable products.
Carbon worked with biocompatibility testing specialists NAMSA to certify the resins. Certified resins include RPU 61 rigid polyurethane with applications in single-use surgical tools, RPU 70 rigid polyurethane which also has flame resistance, and EPU 40 elastomeric polyurethane, said Carbon.
The EPU could be used in cushioning, vibration isolation, gaskets, and seals for applications like surgical robotics, prosthetics, and diagnostic devices, the firm suggested.
UMA 90 urethane methacrylate has also been certified biocompatible.
