Leverkusen, Germany -- Masdar City is a sustainable construction project in Abu Dhabi that aims to be carbon-neutral. Al Falah Ready Mix, a major concrete manufacturer in the Middle East, is currently building a laboratory on the Masdar site in cooperation with Bayer MaterialScience's EcoCommercial Building team.

The laboratory construction will incorporate a range of sustainable solutions including rigid polyurethane foam from German company Puren GmbH to thermally insulate the building, a 9 Aug BMS statement said. BMS has been supplying PU raw materials to Puren for over 40 years.

"Bayer MaterialScience's programme is based on integrated planning that takes into account both the energy requirements of the relevant building and the local climate," Pejman Norastehfar, head of the EcoCommercial Building programme in the Middle East, said in the statement.

In Jan 2010, BMS entered into a strategic sustainable construction partnership with Masdar, a subsidiary of the Mubadala Development Company. Under this partnership, the Leverkusen-based company is to construct an EcoCommercial Building prototype in Masdar City that will serve as a model for energy-efficient and cost-effective construction, the statement added.
