Munich, Germany – The 3D printing specialist Carbon is opening an advanced design and development centre in Bavaria, Germany, in collaboration with the Institute of Polymer Technology at Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg. The company said it aims to harness the expertise of both entities, as well as improve support for European customers.
The new centre will enable Carbon’s customers in Europe to experience Carbon’s processes and the development of their products first hand. It should also reduce turnaround times for customers in the region, the company said.
It will also serve as a hub for R&D. Carbon will work with PhD students on new R&D initiatives, and provide an extended workspace to explore new applications and advances in platform processes, ranging from material developments to recycling.
“The new common centre with Carbon will offer students a perfect learning, working, and research platform on the highest technological level, said Dietmar Drummer, head of the Institute of Polymer Technology. “We are really looking forward to further strengthen our research profile in fluid-based additive manufacturing.”
