Crystal, Minnesota - PU foam manufacturers Cargill and Healthier Choice have teamed up to donate over 1500-sq.ft. (139-sq.m.) of biobased carpet cushion and underlay to the eco-friendly Habitat for Humanity home in Crystal, Minnesota.
The donation is to help the home achieve 'green' certification from the US Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) programme, Cargill said 3 Dec.
"Like BiOH polyols, Healthier Choice products represent a step on the journey to a sustainable world. Contributing to a Habitat built home built to LEED standards seemed an ideal way to further both companies' aspirations," said Yusuf Wazirzada, head of Cargill Biobased Polyurethanes.
Cargill's BiOH polyols help manufacturers reduce their environmental footprint by replacing a portion of the traditional petroleum-based polyols, the company said.
