Johannesburg, South Africa - Transport and logistics company Cargo Carriers has signed a five-year partnership with one of its long-standing clients, Industrial Urethanes.
Cargo Carriers of Johannesburg has been moving bulk liquid urethanes on behalf of Industrial Urethanes since the polyurethanes producer was set up in 1983. This includes specialised transport of the chemical MDI (methylene diphenyl diisocyanate) which is a crucial component of the rigid foam insulation used in refrigeration appliances and equipment.
Previously, MDI had been transported in a specialised Isotainer owned by Industrial Urethanes, but Cargo Carriers says this is now too small to cope with the increasing demand for the product -- as well as too old to meet the necessary safety standards.
Cargo Carriers and Industrial Urethanes have joined together to design and build a customised container for moving MDI to Industrial Urethanes' clients around the country.
The company said the vehicle that has emerged from the joint process is designed to the highest European safety standards, and has 27 percent more capacity than the old Isotainer. The new container is currently only 55 percent utilised, and can therefore handle any increased growth in the South African market.
