Brussels -- The EU Commission has confirmed the foam company cartel investigation which led to multi-million dollar fines imposed yesterday is officially closed.
As reported in Urethanes-Technology-International.com, the European Commission fined Carpenter, Vita, Greiner, Recticel and Eurofoam a total of EUR114m ($155m) for their part in a foam cartel. Vita, which alerted the Commission, escaped a fine.
EU Commission spokesman, Antoine Colombani, confirmed that no other company would be investigated or fined under this specific case.
He said: "the case is closed as far as we are concerned.” Colombani said he could not reveal if any other companies had been investigated during the process adding: “We only give the identity of the companies that are fined.”
