Sydney, Australia - IFS Chemicals Ltd's polyurethane Cellafoam is being incorporated into 14.4 km of large diameter pipe being installed across Botany Bay, just south of Sydney, Australia, to supply 12 percent of the water requirement of the city.
Cellafoam 161/10 will be used to provide a light-weight open-celled field joint, the company said, adding that the foam is injected into the 120mm cavity formed at the joint of the adjacent pipes.
The foam was chosen because of its high impact properties and fast cure rate, the company said. The project is scheduled to take nine months to complete. (RD)
