Encinitas, California - Century Products llc has granted Ameren Energy Fuels and Services Company (AFS) a licence to develop, manufacture, market and sell polyurethane composite railroad ties made using its LifeTime Lumber technology.LifeTime Lumber technology combines custom polyurethane chemistry with recycled fly ash. This provides a mix of strength, weight and flexibility, as well as resistance to water absorption, mould, mildew and rot, according to Century's 11 June statement."We are excited to work with AFS to develop an eco-friendly composite railroad tie," said John Taylor, president of St Louis, Missouri based Century Products, in the statement. Mike Mueller, president of AFS, added, "Not only are the LifeTime Lumber ties better for the environment, but we feel they can also help to improve the efficiency and economics, of railway operations through their longer service life.Formed in 2002, Century Products has been working on LifeTime Lumber for several years. It manufactures and sells LifeTime Lumber boards for use in residential and commercial decking and fencing markets, as well as the equestrian fencing market. ss"
