Howell, Michigan – Chem-Trend has opened an advanced R&D lab in Maisach, near Munich in Germany. It joins the company’s worldwide network of research labs.
Parent company Freudenberg Chemical Specialities has invested EUR 40m in the facility. As well as R&D, it includes areas for warehousing, training and administrative services.
Chem-Trend’s advanced technology centre includes new equipment and dedicated lab space for its polyurethane, thermoplastic and wood composite R&D teams. The flexible facilities include a test field for product development, evaluation and demonstration.
The company says it hopes to improve its services to customers, particularly Europe-based OEMs.
‘Chem-Trend’s R&D teams will benefit from additional lab space, yet the greatest value lies in the cooperative layout of the new laboratories, offices, and test fields,’ said Devanir Moraes, Chem-Trend’s president and CEO.
‘The development lab is designed to foster easy communication and development synergies, and to provide cross-functional support. With these newly optimised R&D capabilities in Maisach, we are well positioned to accelerate our speed to market in Europe.’
