Florence, Italy -- Materials manufacturer Covestro has been recognised by the European Chemical Industry Council (CEFIC) for its use of CO2 in plastics production.
The company received CEFIC’s Responsible Care Award in the Environment category at an event in the Italian city on Friday, October 7.
Covestro’s cio Markus Steilemann said the firm is “proud and honoured” by CEFIC’s recognition and it is the firm’s intent to produce as many types of plastic as possible using carbon dioxide.
The company is able to produce a new precursor for polyurethane foam with 20% CO2 as UTECH-polyurethane.com reported previously.
