He said that capacity constraints within the current set-up were the main reason for the increase. “The expansion will create an additional area for production post expansion,” he said. “The focus is also on increasing automation at the plant.”
At the show, the company was showcasing a new range of liquid PU colorants. It was also looking for opportunities to export its PU colorants.
The company, based in the north of India, is upbeat about the growing use of PU in the country. “The market is continuously growing driven by surging per capita consumption,” Sachdeva said. “The Indian market is moving towards creating new trends which can be helped with new colours.”
He also commented on the challenges facing the PU sector. “Competition is also growing with surging demand, raw material prices going down while consumption levels are impacted by ongoing geo-political situation,” he said. “Moreover, PU is a crude oil-based product and impacted by crude oil related factors.”
