Delaware, US – Chemours has announced plans to increase its manufacturing capacity for Opteon 1100. This is its blowing agent for spray foam insulation based on HFO-1336mzz(Z), or cis-1,1,1,4,4,4-hexafluoro-2-butene.
The company plans to triple its capacity for the HFO product. It has entered into an agreement with fluorochemicals specialist Zhejiang Juhua Group, who will produce the additional amount.
Production is expected to begin in late 2025, with full-scale production expected to be under way in early 2026. The HFO is also used to make Opteon SF33 specialty fluid.
