Middlebury, Connecticut - Chemtura Corp. is to implement a global temporary surcharge of $0.04-$0.22/lb on all organotin stabilisers The company said the action is needed "to capture the significant cost increase resulting from unprecedented inflation in worldwide tin metal markets." Chemtura added that this inflation "cannot be fully absorbed, despite aggressive cost reduction measures taken by Chemtura." It has also not been fully recovered by previously implemented price increases, the firm added. The supplier said it continues to monitor the tin market closely and "may make adjustment to this temporary surcharge as market conditions dictate."Customers with questions should contact their account representative or local customer care centre, said Chemtura. Organotin chemicals are used both as stabilisers for plastics such as polyvinyl chloride, and as catalysts in polyurethane systems. "
