Manchester, UK - Chemtura Corp. says its Performance Specialties business has expanded its European regional Technical Service laboratory in Latina, Italy in a move intended to support further growth of its range of Adiprene and Vibrathane polyurethane prepolymers.
Chemtura said the investment recognises the fact that the market for hot-cast prepolymers is one of its core business areas.
The additional space, dispensing equipment and facilities at Latina will "allow Chemtura to continue providing a high level of technical service and new product development work demanded by our customers," said Gerry King, EMEA technical service manager for Chemtura's Adiprene/ Vibrathane business, in the company's 23 June announcement.
The refurbished and upgraded laboratory is on the same site as Chemtura's European manufacturing plant, where it produces Adiprene, Vibrathane & Ribbon Flow prepolymers based on TDI (toluene diisocyanate) and MDI (methylene diphenyl diisocyanate), as well as Adiprene Low-Free-TDI prepolymers and Vibracure curatives.
A six-component PU.MA meter mix machine is an integral part of the laboratory, and was designed with Techno PU.MA to meet Chentura's requirements. The company said this machine follows a recently announced agreement on cooperation between Chemtura and the Italian machinery supplier, within the Europe, Middle East and Africa markets.
Describing the Adiprene/Vibrathane urethane prepolymer business as "renowned for its customer intimacy," King commented that it will now "be easier to identify and deliver performance-elastomer solutions that enable our customers to succeed in the market place."
Another improvement will be "a better focus on new applications and markets that build on our formulations and application expertise," King added.
