Philadelphia, Pennsylvania -- Chemtura Corp., currently under Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, will place some of its brominated flame retardants on sales control while implementing a "30-day maximum price validity," the company said 26 May.
The flame retardant products on sales control are:
• Tetrabromobisphenol A (BA-59PR);
• Decabromodiphenyloxide (DE-83RR), and;
• Decabromodiphenylethane (FiremasterR 2100R).
"This action is necessary to continue high levels of service to our customers in all regions of the world," said Anne Noonan, general manager for for Flame Retardants, Brominated Performance Products and Fumigants. "Higher than anticipated demand for these product lines coupled with supply constraints on several key raw materials requires action that will assure our loyal customers of availability of product to meet their customers' needs."
