Middlebury, Connecticut-Chemtura Corp. said 13 Dec that is raising off-list prices for the following brominated flame retardants, from 1 Jan 2007 or where contracts allow:
• $0.30/kg on tetrabromobisphenol A (BA-59P)¶ $0.20/kg on all grades of hexabromocyclododecane (CD-75P); CD-75PC;CD-
• $0.30/kg on decabromodiphenylethane (Firemaster 2100)
• $0.30/kg on tribromophenol (PH-73FF)
"These increases are necessary to cover increased energy and feedstock costs," said Chemtura's announcement, pointing out that "They also cover advocacy costs that ensure sustainable flame-retardant choices for customers and end users."
The group also stressed that "Recovery of bromine value is essential to ensure a reliable supply chain and to fund research into future technology."
Flame retardants supplier Chemtura describes itself as having "an aggressive commitment to technological innovation and product development." Its FR range includes bromine, phosphorus, and antimony-based flame retardants and other synergists."
