Middlebury, Connecticut-Chemtura announced 12 Dec that it is raising prices worldwide for bulk elemental bromine to $2500/tonne. The US-based chemicals and polymers group also said it will raise prices for brominated derivatives (excluding flame retardants) by an average of 15 percent. The price rises will take effect for all shipments on and after 1 Jan 2006, where contracts allow, Chemtura said. "
