Durham, North Carolina - Chesson Labs has received 510(k) clearance from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Nuvaderm poly(urea-urethane) liquid bandage, the company said 5 Aug.
The Nuvaderm First Aid is a single component poly(urea-urethane) liquid emulsion polymer, which, during synthesis, uses urea and urethane linkages to tie together soft and hard segments before application to a wound, the company said.
The FDA has cleared the product "to cover intact skin and minor cuts, scrapes, burns or irritations of the skin, to help keep them clean and dry and help protect them from infection," the statement said.
Chesson said the fast application, drying and coverage characteristics are well suited for individuals treating minor wounds. (RD)
