A report in Asia Pulse details how China has expanded and plans to further grow its production of pentaerythritol. China's pentaerythritol capacity and output reached 150 kilotonnes and 108 kt in 2004 respectively, as against 100 kt and 50 kt in 2002. capacity and output will expand to 180 kt and 130 kt respectively, in 2005 .
Pentaerythritol is used to make alkyd resins and also in the manufacture of polyurethanes, rosin esters, lubricants, surface active agents, plasticisers and other products, the report says.
