Beijing – China exported 4.48m refrigerators in December 2019. This is up by 14.2% compared with December 2018.
However, the value of these exports grew more slowly: it was up by just 10.6% compared with the same month in 2018 at $628m, according to China’s General Administration of Customs. The value of exports was 12% higher than in November 2019, and the volume was up by 16%.
Total refrigerator exports in 2019 were 55 m units, up 5.6% compared with 2018. But the growth in value was much lower. This was 2.3% year on year, and arrived at $7.6bn.
China’s overall refrigerator production in December 2019 reached 6.9m units, up by 21.9% from a year ago but down by 4.5% from November 2019. Annual production rose by 8.1% year on year to 79 m units, said the National Bureau of Statistics.
The country’s freezer production continued its upbeat trend. China made 2.4m freezers in December 2019, up 19.4% from December 2018 and up 35% from November. Annual production reached 21.7 m, up 4.1% year-on-year.
