Beijing – China exported 420kT of footwear in December 2019. This is up by 9.1% compared with December 2018. However, the value of these exports surged more, up by 11.2% to $4.9bn on the same basis.
In 2019, China exported 4.5MT footwear and components. This is 0.6% more than 2018, according to China’s General Administration of Customs. But the total value of exports in 2019 reached $47.7bn, which represents a 1.7% rise year on year.
December exports included 899m pairs of shoes, up by 7.4% from December 2018. The value of shoe exports increased by 10.2% to $4.6bn.
Annual shoe exports arrived at 9.5bn pairs, about flat from 2018. The annual value of shoe exports stood at $45bn, showing a 1.1% rise from a year ago.
Exports of shoes with both soles and uppers made with rubber or plastic recorded two-digit growth in both volume and value in December. Exports of shoes with rubber or plastic soles and fabric uppers had a fall in both volume and value.
