Pingdingshan, Henan – China’s Headspring Polyurethane, also known as HengTaiYuan, plans to build a new plant for shoe sole resin. An environmental impact assessment for the project was made public in December.
The plant will have 100kT/year capacity for shoe sole resins, 30kT/year of polyester polyol and 80kT/year for TPU and other polymers.
The factory will cover 52,000m2, and will be located in the city’s nylon industrial zone. Adipic acid feedstock will be supplied by Shenma Industrial, a chemical and fibre maker located nearby.
In total, Headspring plans to spend CNY266m ($38m) on the plant, which it expects will employ 260 people. The company estimates it will generate CNY 1.1bn annual profit on CNY 3.2bn revenue.
Headspring was set up in 2003 as a mainland–Hong Kong joint venture specialising in shoe sole materials. It is headquartered in Taizhou, Zhejiang province, and currently has 200kT/year polyurethane capacity.
The company also a supplies polyurethane resin for solid tyres.
