Zibo, Shandong — Lecron Energy Saving Materials, which makes rigid polyether polyurethane foam, announced in January 2014 it will integrate into diglycols with an investment of RMB340mn ($56m).
The new facility will have capacity to make 125kT/year of modified 2-ethoxyethanol and diglycols.
It will be located at the North Industrial Park in Zhanhua county, Binzhou, Shandong province. The diglycols will be used as raw material for Lecron’s PU products. Construction of the project is expected to take two years.
According to the company’s announcement, China has a 250kT/year demand for such modified 2-ethoxyethanol, of which 80% is used in the manufacturing and special coatings sectors. Currently the majority of cellosolve is imported.
