Beijing – China exported 2.4m foam mattresses and cushions in July 2021, down by 9% on July 2020. This was the first month this year that export volume showed a decrease from a year ago.
While the number of exported mattresses fell, the value of these exports in July 2021 shot up by 11% year on year to $56m, according to China’s General Administration of Customs.
The country’s exports in the first seven months of 2021 totalled 21m units, up 41% from the same period in 2020.
The seven-month export value rose 55% year on year to $4001m, and the weight of exports rose by 38% to 71,100 tons.
Japan was China’s largest overseas market in value in July 2021, a place it held since last December. In the month, $10m of goods were shipped there.
The US was in second place with $8m, followed by Korea with $5.3m. Germany, which was in second place with $8m shipment in June, fell to fourth place in July with $5.2m.
