Beijing – China exported 4.9m mattresses and cushions fitted with cellular rubber or plastics in September 2020, up 124% from a year ago. In August, the number was down by 46%.
The value of these exports in September 2020 climbed by 15% year on yea, to $55.5m, according to China’s General Administration of Customs. The export tonnage was up by 27% to 11,300 tons.
This is the third time this year, after June and July, that the figures recorded an across-the-board rise.
China’s exports over the first nine months of 2020 was 22.2m units, a 5% drop from the same period in 2019. The nine-month export value was down 25% year on year to $371m, while weight shrunk 28% to 74,800 tons.
Japan, which was China’s largest overseas market in value for September, registered $10.2m of exports shipped. The US was in second place with $7.3m exports, followed by Germany’s $5.2m.
It was the first time Germany featured in top-three largest markets for China’s mattress exports.
