Beijing – China achieved 2.7m mattresses and cushions fitted with cellular rubber or plastics in April 2020, down by 7% from April 2019.
The value of exports in April was $39.6m, a 25% drop from a year ago, said China’s General Administration of Customs. The tonnage of exports fell by 32% to 7900 tons.
This compares with sharper declines in March 2020, when China registered a 31% drop in exports to 1.9m units. The value of exports in March crashed 53% to $32m; weight plunged 56% to 6,700 tons.
The country’s total exports over the first four months of 2020 was 7.4m units, down 24% year on year. Four-month export value shrunk by 51% to $125m, while weight fell by 55% to 25,400 tons.
Japan continued to be China’s largest overseas market for such products in April. It was the destination for $8.8m-worth exports. Trailing Japan is the US, which took $4.6m of exports, and Korea with $4.1m.
