Beijing – China exported 2.7m mattresses and cushions fitted with cellular rubber or plastics in May 2020, representing a 14% slip from a year ago.
The value of exports in May was $38.9m, down by 27% year on year, said China’s General Administration of Customs. The tonnage of exports dipped 35% to 7,300 tons. This shows a similar downturn compared with April.
The average price in May was $5,352/T, up by 7% from April.
China’s total exports over the first five months of 2020 was 9.6m units, down by 22% from the same period in 2019. Five-month export value contracted by 46% to $163m, while weight slid 52% to 32,700 tons.
Japan was still the largest overseas market in May with $8.1m-worth exports shipped to the country. Korea took $5.3m exports in May compared with $4.1m in April. It has outranked the US with $5m as the second largest exports market.
