Winnsboro, South Carolina – Chinese polyurethane mattress and pillow maker Mlily, also known as Healthcare Co, started up its new South Carolina plant on 19 December 2019.

The plant covers 60,000m2 of a 700,000m2 site. The company has invested $50m to lease land, build a plant and and buy equipment, it said.

The US project is Mlily’s fifth plant, adding to locations in China, Spain, Serbia, and Thailand. It will create more than 200 jobs, and generate annual production worth CNY1bn ($145m), according to an announcement by the company on December 20.

The plants will help lower transport costs, shorten delivery time and raise production flexibility, the announcement said.

Mlily also has a facility in Knoxville, Tennessee that houses sales, marketing and product development staff, as well as a retail store.

The third phase of the company’s Serbian project in Ruma, Vojvodina province, has EUR 20m ($22m) investment earmarked, and is still in the pipeline.
