Beijing – China exported 8.2% more refrigerators in October 2019 than in the same month last year. This October exports were 4.54m units.
But while the number of units was up, the value of the exports fell by 0.5% compared with October 2018 to $596 m. The numbers come from China’s General Administration of Customs. The value is down 5% from September 2019 on about flat volume.
Total exports over the first ten months of 2019 was 47m units, up 7% compared with the same period in 2018. The total value of exports recorded about half the growth rate, 3.4% year on year, and arrived at $6.4bn.
China’s overall refrigerator production in October 2019 reached 7.05m units, up 3% from a year ago but down by 4% from September 2019. Ten-month production rose by 3.8% year on year to 71m units, said the National Bureau of Statistics.
The country’s freezer production continued double-digit growth. China made 1.77m freezers in October 2019, up 44.6% from a year ago and up 10% from September. Ten-month production totalled 15.9m, up 18.9% year on year.
