Beijing – China exported 5.9m refrigerators and freezers in October 2021, down by 9% from a year ago. This compares with a 16% drop in September, and a 19% drop in August.
The value of these exports in October was $834 million, up 7% from a year ago, according to China’s General Administration of Customs.
Exports over the first 10 months of 2021 were 60m units, a 7% rise from the same period in 2020. The value of exports over the period in 2021 shot up 30% from a year ago, to $8.4bn.
In October 2021, China’s production of refrigerators, excluding freezers, was 7.6m units, down by 14% from a year ago, said the National Bureau of Statistics.
This was the sixth month in a row that monthly production showed negative growth. Production over the first 10 months of this year rose by 0.3% to 74m units.
Freezer production in October 2021 was 2.3m units, down 19% year on year. The number fell by 18% in September, and in August it was a 16% slide.
From January to October 2021, China produced 25m unit freezers, up 13% on the same period in 2020.
