Yafei is working with Capital Development Authority, a government agency in charge of planning and developing the new capital city. The team aims to build many low-cost houses within a short period. Xu says Yafei's prefab houses are light and environmental friendly. Polyurethane sandwich walls, which make the core material of the house, are thin (80mm) and light-weight (15 kg).
Structures with walls made of polyurethane sandwiched between wood or composite facings are well ventilated and have low ambient temperature as well as being sound-proofed, the report said.
The Tanzanian designs are drawn up and sent to China where the panels are fabricated. All sections are clearly marked with numbers before being shipped to the constructor in Tanzania who can easily follow the plan.
